One of the most memorable institutions we visited during our Canadian familiarisation tour was The Collegiate at the University of Winnipeg—a high school located within a university campus.
At first, the idea caught our attention. A high school inside a university? As we toured the campus and learned more, we quickly realised how this unique setting gives students a head start in preparing for higher education.
Imagine completing your high school education while already experiencing university life. Students develop confidence, independence, and strong academic habits in an environment that encourages them to think beyond the classroom. They also have access to university facilities and, in some cases, can even earn university credits before graduating from high school.
For international students, finishing high school in Canada offers valuable advantages. It provides a recognised Canadian qualification, a smoother transition into university, exposure to a multicultural learning environment, and a stronger foundation for future academic success.
As we walked through the campus, one thing became clear: this is more than a high school. It's a place where students begin shaping their future long before their first university lecture.
